The Bible is full of big names, Moses, David, Mary, Paul—but behind every major headline of faith are dozens of people whose stories rarely make the spotlight. They don’t headline Sunday School posters or get their names stitched on bookmarks, but they quietly shape the story of redemption. These are the Hidden Figures of Scripture: the overlooked, the underestimated, the faithful few who prove that God’s work doesn’t depend on fame, title, or recognition.

Each week, we’ll pull back the curtain on one of these supporting characters, people like Mephibosheth, the crippled prince invited to dine with the king; Shiphrah and Puah, midwives who defied an empire to preserve life; Barnabas, the encourager who saw potential when others saw risk; and Epaphroditus, a faithful messenger who almost gave his life for the gospel. Their stories remind us that God’s kingdom is built not by celebrities of faith, but by servants of grace. Because in God’s story, even the background characters play eternal roles, and sometimes, they steal the scene.
